HADITH AND MOSQUE: HADITHS AS A GUIDE IN DESIGNING MOSQUES
This body of Hafiths collected from a reading of about 15,000 traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Hadith and Mosque represents the editor's passion for building a foundation for the flowering of a more value-based Islamic Achitecture. At present, Islamic Architecture and its iconographical allusions have led to a runaway approach of historicism and mindless geometry. It is hoped that acrhitects can use these Hadiths as an intellectual tool of ijtihad or interpretation in order to frame the discourse of form, technology, economy, specific functions, politics and other. A mere revivalistic use of historical typology amployed by some architects to address serious concerns of architectural designs in an Islamic context is less prudent with the values present in this collection of Hadiths. This simple collection will hopefully fulfill our jihad as Muslims and professionals to derive a new framework of ijtihad for Islamic Architecture
