Cluster Innovation Development in Malaysia

Work on cluster development and innovation recognises the proximity interactions between historical events, actors, institutional settings and other embrace cultural norms in driving the dynamics of firms’ technological learning and innovation in a spatial context. In this respect, cluster competitiveness is highly attributed to localised learning paths and implicit knowledge grounded in local community and it evolved through time and space. This book provides an overview of current cluster based activities in Malaysia. Two successful clusters in Malaysia – Sekinchan paddy-rice cluster and Muar wooden furniture clusters. These clusters studies reveal that developing a successful cluster required long-term efforts since the establishment of network and trust consumes time. It requires a continual series of interactions along with the exchange of resources.
